EMPOWERING LAITY THROUGH PARTNERSHIP: THE ANNUAL TRAINING EVENTS
The Goal of the
NPD/Lay Servant Ministries:
The goal of the LSM is to foster effective, trained, and
enthused people to serve in their local
church and be role models encouraging
others to go one step beyond in their Christian life and service.
·
Lay Servants serve, and encourage others to
serve, in ministries of caring (visiting, welcoming, leading, and communicating
(speaking, teaching, sharing a faith story or sharing goals for ministry).
·
To help accomplish the NDP purpose we will offer
annual training events (Fall, Spring and
potential for Summer) to introduce people to LSM through the Basic Course,
continue them in honing skills, or help them achieve certifications through the Advanced
Courses, and offer these courses to any interested lay or clergy person (teens
to adults) for continuing education and self-improvement.
·
To help support the mission statement of the
UMC, the NPD/OKUMC has an objective that every church have a trained lay
servant in place to assist and encourage others to pursue increased levels of
participation in mission, spiritual development, and purposed outreach.
The Role of the Host
Church for a Training Event:
In Partnering the local church has the opportunity to expand
the boundaries of their outreach and mission by assisting the entire District
to achieve new levels of ministry success.

teachers, and the churches they serve
